PHASES OF COMPETITION
Contestants should be prepared to compete in the official phases of competition established by the Volunteer America Pageant: Private Interview, Talent, Fitness & Wellness (Active Wear), and Evening Gown. Each phase of competition is weighted equally and accounts for 25% of the contestant’s total score.
Interview: Each Teen contestant participates in an individual six-minute press conference-style interview with the panel of judges. There is no closing statement. Contestants may be asked questions based on their interview fact sheet, platform, education, career goals, and other topics selected by the judging panel.
Fitness & Wellness: Each contestant will participate in a high-energy on-stage routine featuring movement and posing that demonstrates her commitment to health and fitness.
Talent: Each contestant will perform a 90-second talent of her choosing. Talent presentations may include singing, dancing, gymnastics, instrumental music, monologues, baton twirling, flag routines, and more.
Evening Gown: Each contestant will model on stage in an evening gown of her choosing, representative of attire she would wear to a formal black-tie social event.
